Mudgard

This is the mudgard that i have got, it was cheap and you can tell the sides were wobbly so i decided to paint them, this also made it look more 1960s, It hasn't been tried on yet so there maybe a possability that it will all need painting blue. The mudgard potector is stainless steel and is good quality this came off ebay

Side Panels

The panels were baked then flipped over then primed then painted with the top coat

A one coat off etch primer followed by three coats of two pack primer was applied

I'm working on the body panels bit by bit first the side panels. First they were sand blasted then all dents filled

Front Hub

This is just a couple of pictures of the hub after painting and pressing it back together after fitting new bearings.

Forks Strip

I'v got on with the forks which were all seized up as they have been stood around for a long time, i stript them down completely and gave all parts a steam clean and acid strip . As the scooter is going blue i decided to paint the forks and front hub suspension link to match.

More New Floor 2

New Floor 2

The frame is in great nik with just a couple of holes . The floor came from scootrs.com and was very well made, so we lined it up and secured it with a couple of self tappers then using the vane cutter along the front of new floor, then we (I say we but my mate nick did the welding) welded the front of the floor with a mig welder, then spot welded along the trunk and lastly migged the back

New Floor

The old girl has been coming on leaps and bounds, first i made a brace to stop it twisting, then i cut the old floor off by drilling the spotwelds then useing a vane cutter 10mm shy of the new floor finishing then the frame was sandblasted

Engine

As i said the engine was incomplete not even having both half of the casings so i decided to use a vbc (150 Super)engine which i had two of. Unfortunatley as i built the engine awhile ago i have no pictures but this is what i did, first i stripped all the engines down then chose the best bits from both. I then went online and orded seals, gaskit set, cruciform, bearings, piston, clutch, points and condenser, coil, carb overhaul kit, and all nuts, tab washers, woodruff keys mainly from scootrs. After steam cleaning the casings i rebuilt the engine fitting the new parts. The newly built engine was missing a barrel cowling which luckily i sourced a metal one from ebay for £1.00, it was sprayed silver to match the flywheel cover, carb box top and hub back plate which i had sprayed earlier. The hub on a sportique uses a single pivet pin brake pads and the vbc uses a double pin, as i have decided to keep the eight inch wheels i had to find pads to fit the double pin and also to work in the small hub.Again i found them at scootrs along with a nice new exhaust

The Start

Nice hole

The start is not strictly true as i built the engine a year ago and have been ordering parts for awhile. Anyway i striped down the frame of all the parts then i inspected the frame to see how bad it looked

In The Past

i bought this 1964 vespa sportique aroundabout 1993 it had been stood for many years not loved and was in a sorry state, the frame has got a big hole underneath and the engine was incomplete. There was lots of parts missing that in 93 you just could not find so there it lay until now
